Zurich has made significant progress towards its net-zero targets. From 2020 to 2023, the company achieved a 66% reduction in absolute operational emissions compared to 2019, with a 57% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 70% reduction in Scope 3 emissions. As of the end of 2023, 52.1% of Zurich's procurement spend was with suppliers that have set science-based emission reduction targets, and 49.4% was with suppliers who have set net-zero targets. Additionally, Zurich's impact investing portfolio helped avoid 4.5 million metric tons of CO2e emissions in 2023.
