  • Formosa Plastics Group (Wang family-controlled Taiwanese conglomerate; Formosa Plastics, Nan Ya Plastics, Formosa Chemicals & Fibre, Formosa Petrochemical) faced the April 2016 Vietnam Hà Tĩnh Province Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation toxic effluent spill into the South China Sea (industrial wastewater containing cyanide and phenol) causing massive fish die-off along 200km of Vietnamese coast, with USD 500 million Vietnamese government compensation paid June 2016.
