Progress against targets
ⓈCompany sustainability reportIn 2022, Abbott initiated 80 projects resulting in approximately 27 million kWh annual energy savings and approximately 7,000 metric tons of CO2e emissions reduced annually. These projects also saved about an annualized $2.9 million. Initiatives included installing a heat recovery and pump system, replacing the motors of the air handling units with more energy-efficient motors, and funding additional on-site renewable energy installations. Additionally, Abbott is in the process of converting its vehicle fleet in the U.K. to electric, with about 34% of the fleet already replaced with electric vehicles. The company is also working with suppliers to ensure they adopt science-based targets, with 30% of suppliers by emissions having SBTi approved targets and an additional 14% committing to adopt such targets.
