Progress against targets

Essity has made significant progress towards its net zero target by implementing various strategies and technologies. The company has reduced its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 26% and Scope 3 emissions by 10% as of 2023, relative to a 2016 baseline. Essity has achieved fossil CO2 emission-free production at its Lilla Edet facility in Sweden and its Mainz-Kostheim facility in Germany by using renewable hydrogen and biogas. The company is also turning production waste into valuable resources and aims for all production waste to be subject to material and energy recovery by 2030. These efforts are part of Essity's broader strategy to reduce its environmental impact and achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
