- S&P Global Inc reached a USD 1.5 billion settlement with US DOJ, 19 state AGs, and DC in February 2015 over alleged inflated AAA ratings of collateralized debt obligations (CDOs) and residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) that contributed to the 2008 financial crisis — the largest credit-rating-agency settlement in history — with S&P Global Ratings (then Standard & Poor's) admitting that its ratings were not objective.
