LYB has made progress towards its net zero target by increasing renewable electricity volumes through power purchase agreements (PPAs), which represent nearly 90% of its 2030 target to secure at least half of global electricity from renewable sources. The company has set interim targets for 2030, including a 42% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions and a 30% reduction in Scope 3 emissions, relative to a 2020 baseline. LYB is collaborating with Air Liquide and Chevron on a hydrogen and ammonia production facility as part of the HyVelocity hub, which supports its net zero goals. The company is also working with the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) to align its climate targets with the latest climate science, although validation is paused due to a global pause on companies with oil-and-gas-related activities.
