Hellmann has made significant progress in reducing CO2 emissions through various initiatives. In 2023, they shifted almost 37,000 truck transports from road to rail in Germany, saving a total of 22,122 tons of CO2e. They are also using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in air freight, which has a reduction potential of around 80% compared to conventional kerosene. Additionally, Hellmann is sourcing bio-LNG for their LNG fleet, resulting in a reduction of 247t CO2e in the first two months. They are also testing electromobility in heavy goods transport, with plans to purchase electric trucks in 2024. These efforts reflect Hellmann's commitment to reducing emissions and moving towards a net-zero target.
