In fiscal year 2022/23, Ferrero made significant progress in decarbonizing its logistics by piloting the use of biogas, HydroTreated Vegetable Oil, and electricity, as well as shifting to intermodal shipments combining trucks and trains. This resulted in a 70% reduction in emissions for certain routes. In the UK, the use of BIO Liquified Natural Gas trucks saved up to 70% of GHG emissions. Ferrero is also piloting electric trucks in France and Germany, expected to save between 40% and 90% of emissions compared to diesel. The company has set internal local reduction targets and implemented a monitoring tool to track logistics impacts. Additionally, Ferrero's latest CDP report shows a B score, surpassing the sector average, with excellent scores in emissions reduction initiatives and low carbon products.
